I was a 10th grader in high school when I started wrestling on the varsity team. This was at a time when girls were first being allowed to wrestle competitively in boys wrestling in our conference. One of the early matches we had was with another conference school that had a girl named Paula wrestling in my weight class (112 lbs). This was early in the season so we weren't in great shape yet, but we wrestled a close match. In the end Paula got an escape and riding to win by two points. This was kind of humiliating as it was the first time a girl wrestled in a varsity match in our conference much less win. In the spring of the following year, I had to wrestle her again in the sectional tournament. I was in much better physical shape and had improved a lot during the season, so I was feeling more confident going into the tournament. Unfortunately for me, Paula had improved a lot also, so she beat me again and this time it wasn't close. At the end of the match, we both knew that she won because she was just better that I was. The follow year when she was in the 12th grade and I in the 11th, I had to wrestle her 3 times, all with the same result. She dominated all 3 of the matches with her strength and athleticism. It's interesting that even the girls at my school were ecstatic that Paula had beaten me. It seemed like a female conquest. Near the end of the school year, Paula invited me to her prom and I somewhat reluctantly consented to be her date. When I went to pick her up, she looked just stunning. We ended up getting along quite well and she asked me out again and the rest is history. We've both graduated from high school now and we're still dating. Paula is 20 and I'm 19. The thing that pisses me off is that she can still beat me-actually dominate me-in wrestling to this day.
